Art, Music and Dreams

The exhibition entitled "K&L MUSEUM / L.WAYV GALLERY Collection Exhibition in Celebration of Completion: Art, Music and Dreams" serves as a preview of K&L MUSEUM / L.WAYV GALLERY's background, purpose, and direction. As part of the cultural initiatives by the conglomerate SMK INTERNATIONAL, K&L MUSEUM is a private art museum newly established in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province. This exhibition is a preview event of the official opening scheduled for September 2023.

Curated with meticulous care, the exhibition features a selection of artworks that resonate with the vision and passion of Kim Seong-min, CEO of SMK INTERNATIONAL and K&L MUSEUM, an ardent classical music enthusiast, as well as the artistic journey of Kim Jin-hyung, CEO of L.WAYV GALLERY. Showcasing the essence of K&L MUSEUM / L.WAYV GALLERY's identity, this exhibition provides an opportunity to witness the interplay, harmony, and heightened beauty between two artistic domains: music and visual arts.

Renowned philosopher Roger Vernon Scruton, who made significant contributions to aesthetics and sociology in the United Kingdom, once stated, "Art and music illuminate our ordinary lives with profound meaning. Through these cultural elements, we confront countless adversities and discover solace and serenity within the existence of art and music." 

Julie Andrews, the illustrious star who captivated audiences with her leading roles in the beloved musical films "The Sound of Music" and "Mary Poppins," expressed the following sentiment: "While food and drink sustain our physical bodies for the present, art and music nourish our souls eternally."

Indeed, art and music are intricately intertwined with our lives, reflecting personal memories, desires, emotions, fantastical or enigmatic facets of our inner selves, enriching and deepening the human experience, and ultimately inspiring us to dream.

For K&L MUSEUM / L.WAYV GALLERY, this project—presenting art, encompassing visual arts and music—is the inaugural stride toward the realization of dreams. The space unveiled on the official completion ceremony on May 25, 2023, nestled in the embrace of the resplendent Mountain Umyeon in Gwacheon, teems with the bounties of nature. Within this space, K&L MUSEUM intends to showcase a diverse range of projects that intertwine music and art, including solo exhibitions by contemporary domestic and international artists, new acquisitions, and thematic collection exhibitions. We aspire for this space to become a special haven where all visitors can dream, collectively embracing and savoring beautiful moments.
