Overview
바길홀은 유년시절, 벽화 아티스트였던 부친의 작업들 속에서 다채로운 이미지, 환상적 색채와 표현들을 접하며 자연스럽게 자유로운 상상의 세계를 품게 되었다. 그러나 이후 갑자기 겪게 된 아버지와의 이별은 어린 바길홀의 기억에 깊은 상실을 남겼고 동시에 부친의 작업들로 기억에 새겨진 풍부한 이미지들은 모호하면서도 아름다운 잔상들로 남게 된다. 작가는 이후 가족, 옛 연인, 애완동물 등 애착하던 대상의 죽음이나 이별을 경험하며 ‘사라지는 관계’, 상실에 대한 개념을 다소 이른 시기에 생각하게 되는데, 대상의 상실과 그리움, 기억에 대한 고찰은 삶에 대한 강한 의지와 성찰이 가능하도록 이끌어주는 원동력이 되기도 한다.
