Matthew Barney
Overview
매튜 바니는 미국 샌프란시스코 출생으로 조각 설치, 퍼포먼스 아트, 영상 등을 융합하는 작업을 하는 예술가다. 그의 작품은 스포츠에서의 신체적 요소, 성 정체성, 그리고 신체의 한계를 탐구해 왔다. 바니는 2019년 발표한 신작 프로젝트 Redoubt를 통해 대자연 세계에서 인류의 위치에 대한 고전적, 우주론적, 국가적 신화를 층층이 쌓아 미국과 그 자연풍경의 복잡한 초상화를 영화, 도서, 판화를 통해 다양한 매체로 선보였다.
